  • Prepare your presentation as PowerPoint file or pdf file. All lecture rooms support widescreen presentations (16:9 aspect ratio).

Poster presentations

The ISCB conference in Utrecht pays special attention to poster presentations. Each presenter is invited to give a poster pitch. There is no need to bring your poster in print. Instead, posters will be displayed on large digital screens (aspect ratio 9:16, portrait orientation) in the conference venue. Posters will also be available in the conference app.

Optionally, you can upload a video to YouTube in advance of you presenting your poster. In that way anyone can see your presentation at any time using the conference app.

Preparation of e-posters

  1. Prepare your poster as usual, e.g. as pdf file.
  2. For the best result, the aspect ratio of your poster should be 9:16, portrait orientation.
  3. Go to pdf2jpg.net and convert your pdf to jpg. Choose jpg quality "Good - 150 dpi".
  4. Check the dimensions. It should be at least 720 x 1280 pixels (portrait orientation). Larger is better.
  5. Check the file size. It should not exceed 2 Megabyte.
  6. You will receive a unique poster number around June 12th.
  7. Rename your jpg, starting with the poster number, underscore (_), followed by the title. Replace spaces by underscores, e.g. 401_This_is_the_poster_title.jpg. The total filename should not exceed 80 characters.
  8. Prepare an e-mail. It should include: 1) poster number, 2) poster title, 3) authors (only name first name letter and surnames). Spaces are allowed. Only write the first letter of the title and (sur)names as capital.
  9. Attach your e-poster as a separate file to the e-mail.
  10. Send your e-mail to iscb2015@congressbydesign.com with subject poster, followed by your poster number.

Poster pitch

  • Posters will be presented in poster pitches. One pitch is a short 2 minute presentation.
  • The poster pitches will be held during the breaks in the main hall.
  • 4 or 8 posters will be presented in a row. After the pitches, there is time for discussion.
  • A chairperson will keep track of time and lead the discussion.
  • You are requested to report at your poster board 5 minutes prior to the start of the session to meet the chairperson and to receive some final instructions.
